Summer Vibes

Can it please be summer all the time? (Shut up, LA friends. I don't wanna hear it.)

Aside from enjoying the sunshine and long days, I've been keeping really busy with writing projects and other fun things. Here's a quick rundown of some of the latest happenings:

Fourth of July fireworks as seen from my apartment, which is funny because Paul and I have lived here eight years but never stayed in our apartment for the fireworks and didn't know we actually had a good view.

I can now share that both my regular producing partner, Tessa Treanor, as well as a new (to me) producer, Melissa Azizi, have signed on to my feature, SCATTERING JAKE. Tessa has worked on pretty much everything I've made over the past eight years. Melissa and I met because she was one of the judges in the WeScreenplay contest where the script won 2nd Place. She's joining us after having spent the past six years working with Gail Mutrux, where their recent projects included THE DANISH GIRL (Universal), iBOY (Netflix) and SHOW ME A HERO (HBO). We're all currently brainstorming talent and beginning to work on packaging the film with me directing. It's a long road to getting a feature made, so please send positive energy!

I booked a lead role in a short film that's shooting in the greater Washington, DC area during the first week of August. I'm excited to be back in the narrative acting world. It's a really great script and should be a fun project. I'll definitely share more on that as it comes along.

I'm spending this week back at the New York Television Festival as an alumni. Looking forward to hanging with other members of my writers group, meeting new friends, hearing great advice and insight from a whole bunch of executives, and taking a pretty cool meeting.

Last update (but certainly not the least), SCATTERING JAKE is a quarterfinalist in the 2018 Page International Screenwriting Awards!

While I'm sad that the World Cup is over (but very happy for France!), I'm mildly relieved by having one less distraction during my daytime writing sessions. I'll post more updates soon!
